Glorious Beautiful Mystery

Where my thoughts have been lately.
I'm rather excited to start new friendships with people where we'll be equally involved in attending classes to learn more about Christ and how to love him better. And the idea of being surrounded by so many people with so many of the same passions as me is so electrifying. I love multicultural environments where so much diversity is so normal and accepted. Common day judgment (I think I just made that up) is thrown out the window when you come into contact with people who are so accustomed to interaction with others of separate cultures. There's no room for whimsical judgments towards people of other cultures when there's such an obvious lack of full understanding for their culture. In time, you might feel rather acquainted with a culture outside of your own, but you've usually learned by then that assumption is never a good idea. (hence the avoidance of exerting judgment)
Anyways, not only do I love the diversity, and acceptance of such, I love that this school focuses on Worship and encountering God on daily basis. I don't just want to learn about God; I want to experience Him. He is such a good man. And such a good father. There is no one on earth not in need of him. We would not breathe without Him. And more than that, we will not live without Him.
I also love...Spanish. I'm hoping to be surrounded by an abundance of opportunities to speak Spanish. In living in Kansas City, I've decided upon this theory that if someone speaks more English than I speak Spanish and we're not good friends, then choosing to speak Spanish to them is, more than just uncomfortable, but a lack of respect to the person's time and ease. I think I'm always rushed with feelings of awkwardness because I know that if I were to choose to speak Spanish to someone who clearly speaks English, then I'm risking making a fool of myself, yes, as well as causing an unnecessary extra obstacle in our line of communication. Like I said, if the person were a good friend and knew I just liked speaking in Spanish, no biggie, but otherwise I feel it's inconsiderate of the victim I choose to unleash my desire to converse in Spanish upon. Did that make sense??
Basically, I'm really excited about going to Christ for the Nations to attend school in the fall. In Dallas. And it seems to be the central focus of my thoughts these days, outside of getting all my belongings in order for this transition in my life, preparing for the short missions trip to Cambodia, and enjoying the time I have left with my friends and family here in KC.
