jotting down some thoughts
There really is something to: listening for the Lord, doing our part at his indication, and letting the rest be his responsibility.
Knowing God's word, Identifying his presence, Recognizing his voice, and Discerning his leading are all things that are Essential in walking out this life in the abundance of love and freedom that He so desires for all of us to have who believe in his name!
If we ever truly want to experience ALL of the good gifts God offers us, we need to make our relationship with the Lord himself our FIRST priority. The more and more we read and understand the word, the more and more we'll begin to have an idea of how to Distinguish God's presence, and even his voice. As we spend time setting ourselves before the Lord, with an open heart and mind, and choose to believe one step at a time in who he says he is, the King of Kings, the Perfect Father, the Lover of our hearts, and the Righteous Judge, we will most assuredly begin to be able to entrust ourselves to him, as he so deserves to be trusted.
....and with THAT! we will have all capability to increase our intimacy with the Lord to extended depths, and therefore walk in Freedoms! and acts of Love! that we would have never been able to even imagine before!!!!
With that said...
When we know what the Lord is saying about a specific situation in our life, and we can specify what our part is in it (that the Lord is only requiring of us so much), then it's RIGHT THERE that we can wait and rest in him with all Faith that everything else is HIS responsibility to accomplish. Once we've done our part, after that, there's no room for striving in the good gift that is awaiting us if we'll just keep Faith that He'll follow through with what he's said he will do!!!
I can, with all certainty, say that I've experienced this time and time again in my life. As we trust the Lord at his leading, that he does speak to us and can be recognized by us, we will be able to confidently hear his voice for our life and act accordingly.
For example:
I've gotten through many road blocks in my travels throughout Latin America on the simple knowledge and faith that God wanted me, or the people I was with, somewhere, and so he was going to get me there with no obstacles stopping him.
And I've been given jobs, almost on the spot, at some unlikely places by following the reassurance of the Lord that he would give the job to me if I would only pursue it further, past any discouraging circumstances so far.
Over time, experiencing the goodness of the Lord and how he really desires to bless me as his daughter (but not to encourage bad character in indulging my every whim), I've learned to ask for what I need to serve this loving God better, and I've been rewarded with great gifts beyond what I could imagine.
We serve such a loving God, how could we ever be anything but grateful and trusting!?
....And how would we ever demand more than whatever he chooses to give, when our very lives are given by his grace alone? We have no further say, when we realize it’s only ever us that want anything outside of Love.
God is not manipulated by us. He will not bend his knee. He stands firm in who he is. He is love, and that will not change.
So, we simply get to spend our lives learning how to better know, feel, experience and take part in his love. It is us who are forever conforming into his likeness. NOT the other way around. It's us "getting into line" so to speak. ....and it's a blessed road to walk.
